Vice President of Communications and Marketing, ASU Enterprise Partners
Debbie Williams joined the ASU Foundation executive leadership team in May 2014. In 2016, the foundation became a subsidiary of ASU Enterprise Partners, a non-profit organization that generates resources on behalf of Arizona State University.
As vice president of communications and marketing, Williams leads a team whose work provides a complex organization with communication and marketing strategy; public and media relations strategy; brand management and elevation; and editorial and creative services to support the overall organization and its subsidiaries in meeting their individual and collective revenue goals to support the success of ASU.
An integral part of Penn State’s communications efforts from 1993 through 2002, Williams edited The Penn Stater magazine — a full-color, bi-monthly publication distributed to the largest alumni association in the U.S. The magazine was honored with a number of prestigious industry awards for writing and excellence in publishing. Later she was tapped to direct communications for the university’s first $1 billion fundraising campaign, A Grand Destiny, which surpassed its original goal by more than $400 million.
Williams then moved to California to serve as general manager of Woodward West Action Sports and Gymnastics Camp, the second-largest such camp in the world. During her decade tenure, she oversaw the construction of the $7 million facility that today attracts more than 3,000 Olympic and X Games hopefuls from across the country and around the world annually.
Most recently, Williams directed her own management consultant company, Pennyworth Associates, addressing the leadership, management, marketing and communications needs of a variety of businesses and organizations, including governmental agencies, private schools, universities, festivals and agri-tourism enterprises. Williams earned her master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degrees from Penn State. Her nonfiction creative writing has appeared in regional and national publications.
