Hope M. Sharett, Esq.
General Counsel, ASU Enterprise Partners
Sharett joined ASU Enterprise Partners as general counsel in October 2019 after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. In this role, Sharett works to provide practical advice on legal issues in support of ASU Enterprise Partners’ mission to raise resources in advancement of ASU as the New American University.
Sharett has over 15 years of experience working in the private, public and nonprofit sectors minimizing risk and maximizing opportunities in order to strengthen organizations and communities. She most recently led the corporate philanthropy program of a prestigious private management and investment company in Columbus.
Sharett began her career at the law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP, advising clients in the public and nonprofit sectors on matters of governance and infrastructure finance. In the intervening years, she has used her legal and management background to implement policies and solutions for public-serving institutions in matters of contract law, employment law, nonprofit governance and tax law.
Sharett is an experienced administrator having served as executive director of the statewide nonprofit Law and Leadership Institute, an innovative pipeline program in partnership with Ohio’s nine law schools and six metropolitan areas; and as director of outside counsel for the Ohio attorney general with oversight of legal matters for its 88 public colleges, universities, boards, commissions and agencies.
Sharett has a history of community engagement and was a Columbus Business First 40 Under 40 honoree. Her experience within nonprofit board service includes City Year Columbus, Central Ohio YMCA, Dress for Success Columbus, and the Ohio State Bar Foundation. Sharett currently volunteers on the boards of the Friends of Public Radio Arizona and the National Council for The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law.
Sharett received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Vanderbilt University where she was awarded All-American Honors as a member of the track and field team. She received her Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where she was a member of the Ohio State Law Journal and received the Outstanding Recent Alumnus Award in 2011. While studying law, Hope earned a Master of Arts in public policy and management from The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs, where she later taught her favorite graduate course on public budgeting.
