Ronald “RT” Thompson

Associate Vice President, Office of Strategic Alignment

Ronald “RT” Thompson joined ASU Enterprise Partners in 2021 and serves as the associate vice president for the Office of Strategic Alignment and the director of operations for ASURE. He is responsible for corporate strategy that synergizes and aligns Enterprise Partners’ resource-raising activities in support of Arizona State University. He aligns applied research, aerospace, real estate development, venture capital, tech transfer, and fundraising among Enterprise Partners’ affiliates and with ASU’s priorities and capabilities. Additionally, he leads and directs operations for the broad range of innovative and collaborative activities at ASURE, ASU’s applied research lab that specializes in providing meaningful solutions for the toughest national security, global futures and humanity challenges.

Thompson grew up in Phoenix and joined the Air Force in 1991 where he served for 30 years in pararescue, operations, requirements/acquisitions, developmental and operational testing, education and training, special operations, talent management, organization design, strategy, and executive leadership roles. His service included tours in the Pentagon, global assignments and deployments in support of humanitarian and combat operations, and culminated as the command chief at Luke Air Force Base. Upon retirement, Thompson served as a military executive intern and executive consultant to ASU where he was involved with several initiatives touching national security, Department of Defense collaboration, educational program expansion, organizational dynamics, and research and grant opportunities. He holds a master’s degree in management with a concentration in leadership and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a concentration in personnel protection, security, and terrorism, both from Excelsior College in Albany, New York.

Thompson is a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Pararescue Association.
