Erin Barringer-Sterner
Chief Data Officer, ASU Enterprise Partners
Erin Barringer-Sterner was named Chief Data and Operations Officer in 2024 and leads data analytics, technology, and operations to enable partners across Arizona State University to effectively leverage information in support of its charter.
Barringer-Sterner joined ASU Enterprise Partners in 2024 as the inaugural chief data officer and collaborated with ASUEP and ASU leaders to lead the organization’s data strategy. Her portfolio later expanded to include the technology, solutions engineering and operations teams, including oversight of the systems supporting Arizona State University’s advancement and constituent outreach. She leads a broad team of experts using AI, data science and technology to cultivate engagement with ASU’s donors, alumni and supporters.
Barringer-Sterner’s distinguished career includes serving as the national director of data strategy, analytics and governance at Planned Parenthood Federation of America where she led the organization’s analytics program. During her tenure, she developed a multiyear strategic roadmap to expand Planned Parenthood’s investment in data and launched a suite of new analytic tools to guide the Federation during a volatile time of change. Previously, Barringer-Sterner was senior director of population health and analytics at OCHIN, a national health information and innovation network serving 6 million active patients from over 140 safety net organizations in 47 states. While there, she led the successful large-scale implementation of Epic Healthy Planet and directed a team of 45 staff. Her professional experience also includes leading the data strategy and business intelligence at Planned Parenthood of Illinois and working as a data strategist at Chicago Public Schools.
Barringer-Sterner earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the Harris School at the University of Chicago where she was a dean’s scholar. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of New Mexico where she was a presidential scholar. She is an avid yoga practitioner and a novice runner; she relishes time camping along the Mogollon Rim with her husband and daughter.
