Chief People Officer, ASU Enterprise Partners
James Sayno joined ASU Enterprise Partners as chief people officer in September 2026, bringing more than 25 years of experience leading enterprise people strategy, talent management, organizational development and culture transformation across global organizations, nonprofit institutions and world-renowned sports organizations. In this role, Sayno leads human resources strategy and operations, including talent acquisition and management, leadership development, learning and capability building, employee relations, compensation and total rewards, workforce planning and organizational effectiveness. He partners with leaders across the organization to build a strong workplace culture, support employees’ success and ensure the organization has the talent and leadership needed to achieve its goals.
Throughout his career, Sayno has been recognized for creating high-performing, people-centered organizations. He has served as a trusted adviser to executive leaders and boards of directors. His experience spans the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment to transition.
Prior to joining ASU Enterprise Partners, Sayno served as senior director of human resources, talent and inclusion for Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament. As a member of the senior leadership team, he led enterprise-wide people strategy, organizational transformation, talent acquisition, learning and development, employee relations and total rewards. During his tenure, he helped develop the organization’s first strategic plan, led a comprehensive organizational redesign, launched a corporate learning academy and supported workforce growth while strengthening employee engagement and culture.
Earlier in his career, Sayno held leadership positions with Nike and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, where he developed talent and rewards strategies that supported Team USA and contributed to the organization’s historic Olympic and Paralympic success. He also served as a senior consultant with Deloitte Consulting, where he advised executive teams on organizational transformation, leadership development and change management initiatives.
Sayno earned a Master of Business Administration in global management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
He and his spouse, Danielle, enjoy watching their sons, Rand and Royce, perform with the school marching band and playing fetch with their Italian truffle dog, Giovanni.
